Setting Corrections. There are two things to know. First, which way is which. A negative correction adds front-focus and a positive correction adds back-focus. So if your camera is front-focusing then use a positive correction to move the focus point further back.
I am pretty sure the OP has this backwards. BTW.

I experienced back focus problems for the first time today so I'm only just getting my head around autofocus corrections. One thing I haven't worked out with the K-x focus adjustment is whether the AF adjustments in the debug menu are done on a "global" scale (by that I mean the adjustments are applied to any lens on the K-x) or are distinct for each lens.

Update to old thread with some answers:

1. Yes, this works in firmware 1.01

2. Yes, the changes are global and not on a lens-by-lens basis. (No way to do that I think on this model?)

3. A plain text editor in Windows works just fine, but other operating systems have different line ending codes, so they will not work unless they have an option to specify these codes or provide cross-OS specific file formats.

4. The correct directions are:

negative adjustment = focus plane made distant = correct front focus
positive adjustment = focus plane made closer = correct back focus

That is pretty unhandy, no deeper debug funtionality?
- Can't we (all together) ask Pentax?

On the K10d, Pentax would make the adjustment for you on 4 or 5 lenses. There was some capability in the firmware. I expect this service is not provided on this less expensive model.

hopefully, Pentax would provide the Kr w/ adjustments for 5 lenses. (give the k5 20)

that would be super! no more futzing with the debug menu

Did you try with different lenses mounted? Maybe the value you see is lens-dependent....

Actually, I can, with 100% confidence, assume the same blur at the far and near limits. That’s the definition of far and near limit…the distance from the point of focus where a specific amount of blur occurs. Previously I was speculating that doubling the near and far limit would give me twice the blur. I checked the math and my speculation is correct. It’s a geometric relationship.
It approaches 50/50 at close distances approaches 0/100 at infinity.
