You guys who post shots without EXIF should at least tell us what lens, focal length, shutter, PP etc you used I'm always up for some learning.

Nice shots everyone, btw.

A couple more from the last few days! The Exif should be there, but in case it isnt. If it's day-light I was shooting at ISO100 with my Vivitar 28-85/2.8. The night shots are betweein 1100 and 2200 ISO and all shot with my SMC-M 50/1.7

I'm pretty new to the whole photography world. Got my K-x (first DLSR!) about 4 months ago. Go easy on me!

(Yes i know, i know, everyone hates HDR and tone mapping :P. But I used it to get the effect I wanted when taking the shot. Kinda surreal soft lighting etc)

Great start - nice pics!

I reckon that the effect is way over done most of the time. Your pic however, I like. Subtle and quite natural looking.

Thanks! I will admit I do like the look of tone mapped images. As well as black and white, sepia, etc etc. I may be in the minority with this viewpoint and I understand why people would not like them since it seems to be over used etc. But to me I think that just about any type of photo manipulation (such as going black and white, soft glows, sepia effects, and yes tone mapping) are all really in the same category. They all drastically change the shot from what it "really" looks like into something very different . So although I get that the effect could be considered "over used" I still don't quite get why it's so disliked .

I'm a huge fan of HDR myself. I haven't had a chance to get into it with the K-x yet, but I used to use it with my powershot all the time. The reason its disliked is because a lot of people just crank it to the extremes so that it becomes eye-gougingly bad. Theres no technique or skill when you simply move all the sliders to the right then click save.

I believe those are from a Dog Wood tree. They're flowering all over Georgia right now!

Not sure about best, but here are some of my favourites. Dog was taken with an M 50mm 1.7 full of fungus and crackling and stuff...and I can't really say it's affected the picture that much. But I was only borrowing that lens so the rest are taken with an M50mm 1.4 I picked up later:

I actually do think the film lenses give much nicer tones than the digital lenses I've tried. Might just be my own bias though. Also, check my flickr for more stuff. It's a bit of a mixed bag, admittedly.
