May seem strange - but neither of these were my picks -
but were singled out by the bass player of this band -

ISO5000, f/3.5, 1/40, 18mm -
yes, a really dark jazz club, and yes, the humble 18-55 Mk1 kit zoom wide-open.....

ISO5000, f/4.5, 1/40, 68mm - 50-200 kit zoom wide-open.
this has the EXIF re-attached (caveat - PhotoBucket can mysteriously drop metadata)

ATPete,

Those shots are fantastic!! Makes me all the more excited to get my recently purchased old Pentax-M 50mm F1.7 lens and try it out!
I love the old manual primes, mostly because pentax are being ridiculous at the moment with the lack of any affordable, properly fast primes. The DA35 2.4 is nice but...it's a bit slow. Seems a bit redundant considering the size of the thing, too, it's not all that handy compared to a fast zoom.

For some reason I really like the prime lenses. My first purhase after the k-x was a 15 mm f4 limited lens. Granted that lens cost me more than the whole k-x plus kit lens, but I have been totally happy with the purchase so far. I'm trying to learn to shoot with it amd get down the basics like composition and all the mechanics behind exposures, etc etc. I'm definitely itching to get the 50mm to try and learn how to shoot with that too

I think my next 'big' purchase is going to be a DA70 or FA77 depending on my finances. I was looking at some sample shots and the quality just blew me away.

New addition to the list for me...

Shot on an Auto Sears 50mm f/1.7, wide open, on the in-camera monochrome setting.

I can't afford limited lenses right now (but I can dream I guess, lol), so I only have 3 lenses. The 18-55 kit lens, a Vivitar 28-85/2.8 and a SMC-M 50/1.7. I rarely use the kit lens anymore and I've noticed that almost all of my best pictures without a doubt come from the 50mm. I was shooting a concert the other night and had both lenses and as I was going through them in Lightroom, I could instantly tell when I switched lenses. The difference was that big! So yeah, I too am a fan of Pentax primes.

Well I got the 50mm prime today! Haven't had much of a chance to play with it but did snap this shot real quick.

This is basically right outta the camera with no PP or anything. Not to shabby for $50

Heres one I took the other night.
Standard 18 - 55mm kit lens.
I know it is supposed to be straight from the camera, but I really like this one.

Very nice. Excellent framing, composition, and bw conversion. I love how the wall and truck are falling into the subject and the shadows of the shoulder blades. Well done.

Hi everyone. Just picked up a white body, K-X with a 50-200mm lens, and have been enjoying it immensely! I'm new to DSLR's, but have always enjoyed taking photos - even with my point & click cameras.

Here's a nice picture I took in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania while on vacation - taken with the K-X:

Showing off the dynamic range

So much detail can be pulled up from the shadows it's unreal!

Not the best KX images, but some pretty descent ones playing with my older glass.

These two seafood pics were shot with a 50mm Rikinon P, 1.7 (fantastic glass!)
