I got a couple of nice shots of my parent's boxer last night!

Hey when you took these pics with the lightning, do you have a light trigger or do you just let a long exposure go and hope for a bolt somewhere in there? Thanks, and I thought I spied Athens. Was this last Wednesday? I live in Alpharetta and the storms were great last week!
The two lightning shots were from Wednesday and the last two were from Saturday! I got maybe 6-8 lightning strikes that night, I don't have an IR control so I can't use bulb, so generally I just use a shutter speed around 6-10 seconds (seems to work best for lightning I've found) and I just keep pressing the shutter back to back. I took about 580 pics that night with 6-8 decent shots. It's probably inefficient and there are probably better ways, but at the moment it's working for me, haha.

I did just buy the stuff to make my phone into a remote control though, just waiting to put it together, hopefully that will work out.

That first is really works because of the angle. Good job.

Awesome shots! You have a lot of talent - capturing a dog is not always easy! Are those kit lens captures? Looks great!

Thanks! They were taken with my SMC-K 35mm/3.5. It's hands down the sharpest piece of glass I own, it's crazy the thing takes such great photos as it has a huge crack through the center of it!

I haven't used my Kx much yet, because I'm still in love with my K20. Here is one of my favorite shots from the Kx, though.

By the way, I have been pleasantly amazed by the high level of quality of the photos on this board. It is great to see so many wonderful Pentax images.

I haven't used my K-x a lot since I got the K-5, but it is still a great little camera. Even better...I can use it as a second body for a different lens.
This trip was my first chance to do anything like this....so the image isn't the greatest.

such is the case with the particular photo. I had the 17-50 on the K-x and really didn't want to change lenses in dusty conditions.

So here I am camping in the Black Rock Desert....everyone else in my camp was asleep at this point...so I saw it as a good opportunity to go walk around alone free of distractions from other people.

The night sky out here is just incredible....zero light pollution. The sky just lights up with stars, and the Milky Way is clearly visible arching across the sky.
I laid on my back for a while just staring up at the sky and listening to the glorious sound of silence..... and the occasional fireworks explosion. It was a powerful experience.

I had imagined this photo the day before, and I am super happy that it actually got created.
