Very good photo, congrats, but it seems heavily manipulated, IMO this thread is all about capabilities of the K-x cameras, strong manipulations can mislead people about the camera.

Thanks anyway.

Thanks for the positive feedback,

cbaytan, what do you mean by heavy manipulation?
The photo is a bit cropped and straightened, no noise reduction was necessary in post processing.
The only thing that is "painted" in this picture are some parts of the tower on the left - it came out a bit overexposed, so I selected these parts and darkened them a bit. If you would like to see the photo without the darkened tower then follow the link: http://static1.nagi.ee/i/p/546/75/13668881ea6cb7_o.jpg

Excuse me, but shadows transitions under the cow seems pretty unreal to me, especially when look at the snow very bottom left arrow points a very unreal shadow tip transition/reflection, angles of the light should not permit such a shadow, in fact all the shadows under the cow statue in color difference (dark blue snow vs real snow look) and darkness iin that area is pretty unreal to my eyes.

As a conclusion the blue snow area seemed selected with Lasso tool in PS and played with colors & saturation to me . I might be wrong tho. Sorry if I am.

There is no manipulation done in the area You indicated, I assure.

Because I used manual White Balance mainly to reduce that yellow-orange light produced by street lights, the snow on the slope (facing the street and some street lamps) is white. But because the hill is above the level of the lamps, the top is in shadow (You can see that shadow line on the stone pedestal). Hence the darker appearance. Also, the little lamp posts at the top of the hill use different bulbs from the street lamps, so their light is different - I guess that also contributes to the different tone.

PS.
The animal is not a "cow", it is aurochs or urus (extinct ancestor of todays cattle), and it is male, so it can not be a cow. Why erect a statue of such animal? Because aurochs is the symbol of the town the picture was taken in (Rakvere).

Ok then, never seen like that before, that looks like the pictures I played with lasso clumsily, very unusual shadow transitions. Congrats again.

This is a very striking photo. How did you get that great lighting? Is that a HDR?

K-x with 18-250mm, highlight correction enabled. I photographed this icy white landscape with my cool white K-x. Yesterday I bought a white SDHC card. Is this a problem?
