Hi, picked up an old inexpensive manual focus Sigma 50mm f/2.8 macro at a local photo swapmeet. I've bartered it down to $60 - which I think was a good deal. It's got an A setting which is nice - I could just manual focus and use auto modes on the camera. Just went out mounted on my K-x to test it out. I think its not so bad. Could focus down to 1:1 ratio so it is a true macro focusing.

I realize this forum is for posting pictures, Does anyone have any good suggestions for a new K-x user to get better at capturing images with my K-x. I just don't seem to get my settings right usually to slow. so I'm not getting good sharp images.

Thanks
Mark

If your getting 'soft' images because your shutter is too slow then you either need to raise your ISO or open up the aperture... Or both...

If using the kit 18-55 lens then the sweetspot will be between f5.6 and f8... So anywhere round there with a fast enough shutter should be considered 'sharp'...

Handheld I (try to) avoid shutterspeeds of 1/20 or slower for stationary subjects, and go for 1/250th and faster for shots of my kid...

Hope that helps...

I can't believe I have not posted on this thread yet.
Some wonderful images you have all posted from a most capable little camera.
After the first K-x (for my wife... well), I got me another but with a clear filter for full spectrum images.
