The off-axis mount on the grip -- again!

When I got my K10 with the BG2 grip, the fact that the tripod mount is off the optical axis annoyed me to no end. I posted here, and got similar reactions, some folks describing their usage of extra brackets to bring it back onto the axis.

I tend to have a grip, so I got the BG4, hoping it'll be on the axis this time. No such luck, however. Surely there's space for batteries' drawers, now especially with the AA one. But, would it be so hard, Pentax?! I mean, would it? Now I have to take the grip off again if I want to use the tripod and be on the axis. Thanks again!

This is particularly annoying when trying to use a smaller camera flip type flash bracket like the Stroboframe 310-900.

Like you, I'm not quite sure why they feel they had to do it this way.
