It looks like the K7's price is coming down similar to last year's K20's price decline. In late March early April, I picked up my K20 for $700 (body only) just prior to the K7's announcement.

So, just wondering out loud - how close Pentax's announcement is with respect to a new top of the line (APS-C) body? Also, just where the K7's price will eventually plateau?

Based on Pentax releasing a 1,000pc run of silver K20 just before the K7 announcement, and that they have just announced a 1,000pc run of silver K7, I'd wager pretty soon...

In fact, if I had to guess, I'd expect 2 new models above the Kx.

I plotted out the price decline of the K20D from launch to twelve months after its release, and the K7 is following that trend almost exactly.

My "go" date for the K7 is April 15th, and I'm hoping we'll see it fall into the 800 range by then. I'd have snapped up the amazon deal, but spending my first winter in a place that snows has me in hibernation mode.

I am still firming up my "go" trigger, but I am thinking either:

a. Price goes below $800, or
b. The day they announce a K7 replacement

was it $650 and how long did it take to get to that price?

was that when the K7 was announced?

amazon's price just went back up over $1000, but it's still $999 at B&H

I want to say the K20 bottomed out at $640 (not positive), and it was after the K7 was announced. Both were available for awhile before the K20 supplies started shrinking, and the price then went back up. I was only mildly watching, given I had already decided to skip the K20 model, given I have the K100 and the K10...

The supply and demand thing is an interesting variable to consider - hence my trigger to by once the replacement is announced in case the supply of K7s is smallish at that point!

K20D bottomed out around $599-$619....I paid $619 last June/July 2009.

In my area some used K100 cameras pop up infrequently on Craiglist attempting to sell for twice their value. I am tempted to be one of those "policemen" and show these examples to a few potential camera buyers. It is difficult to not interfere when some of those crazy listings appear.

That seems a very good deal on the K10.
