How to -- 2 flashes 1 exposure

Hi all,

I think I've done this before, so I'm relatively certain it's possible.

I've got a K100D and one of each af360 af540fgz. However, I'm pretty sure I didn't have my 540 the last time I did this, so I think it was just my shoe mounted 360.

I know I've setup a shot that fired 2 strobes in a single exposure. But I can't figure out now how to set everything up.

When I've done it in the past, I got one flash fire at the very beginning of a long (1-3 second) exposure, and then a second fire of flash at the beginning of the travel of the second curtain.

The only thing I might be thinking is that last time I was just using P-TTL - trailing curtain, and the leading edge flash I thought I saw was actually just the pre-flash, and trailing one was, well, the trailing curtain flash.

Is this the only way it's possible? Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks for your help!

-Chris

heh... I think I've figured it out. I was right in my last guess.

I'm now set to Tv mode, with my 360 shoe mounted, and set to P-TTL mode, trailing edge sync.

I've set a 10s exposure.

Now when I click the shutter, it fires the flash once, but apparently it's before the shutter opens, not after. Then, leaves the shutter open for 10 seconds, and fires the flash again, at the end of the exposure. So it is firing 2 flashes, but only 1 during the exposure.

I guess to do what I really wanted to do, I'd need to do more reading about using manual flash, since I could probably fire 2 flashes manually via the "test" button, or something similar.

Thanks for reading!

-Chris
