K-x AC adapter

QuoteQuote:
Q: Is there an optional AC adapter available for the K-x?
A: Yes, the optional AC Adapter K-AC84.
Found this on Pentax's support site.

Oddly enough I couldn't find it on Pentax's website, but it is on B & H

Pentax K-AC84

The manual says Pentax K-AC84 is for the K-x but B&H sent me the Pentax K-AC84U and it didn't fit so I sent it back. Now I think I didn't try putting it in the middle. I was thinking of the battery slots as two sets of two but maybe it goes where the second and third battery go?

That is the main advantage of it. The manual recommends it for video.

The Pentax D-AC10 adapter will also work. It's an older model so you might have a better chance of finding it used (and therefore cheaper).

I've just joined this forum in order to have somewhere to voice my disgust at the way Pentax rip off UK customers.

I've just bought a K-x and wanted the K-AC84 mains adaptor. So I phoned Pentax UK and was informed that the UK price is 117.49 that's 25% of the price of the camera not including postage costs!!!!!!!! In the US I see it's on sale for $64.95, about 30% of the UK price. What a rip off. I am beginning to regret buying the K-x.

Buyers remorse. Just wait. It will probably be available there for the same price in the future.

K-AC84 kit for K-x

I am dissapointed to see that Pentax UK has joined the band of opportunist organisations that subscribe to rip-off Britain. I have tried to purchase an AC adapter kit for the Pentax K-x but was shocked at the price being asked by the official Pentax outlet (0208 632 1990) at 119.99 plus postage etc. Checking companies in the U.S. and Europe I have found that (after current currency conversion rates) the same item costs 45 in U.S. (Adorama & BH Photo) and 54 in Europe (Digi-Photo, Metz). I would recommend boycotting the U.K. retailers and opting for the French connection, which a little more than U.S. but at least with all taxes paid still half the aunited Kingdom price. Please, let's hope that someone at Pentax is aware of the spiv tactics adopted by U.K. retailers.
