K-7 with Sigma EF-430 ST flash?

Hi guys.

I own a K7 (lucky!) and an old Sigma EF-430 ST flash.. Mine looks just like this one, though it has a 'PA' lettered on the back (not 'NA'), which designates it as Pentax compatible, apparently.

The switch has a TTL position on the back but I can't - and this has bugged me for months - work out if and how this is supposed to work.

With the camera in P mode, and the flash in TTL mode, the flash just seems to fire at something like full power.

Zooming works, so there is obviously some communication going on.

Is there some way I can test this properly? I don't have any experience with TTL or P-TTL and flashes - this is the only on-camera flash I own and I have always used off-camera flashes and/or shot in manual.
I have to shoot some nightclub photos next week which is why I think I require TTL.

Cheers
Jeremy

I'm pretty sure this flash is TTL-only. This is not something the K-7 supports.

Kind regards

OK, thanks Thomas. Guess it's back to manual!

I just got my K-7. Found this post (I also have the same flash) and got overexposed pictures.

Then I read the manual and tested switching the camera to "x" position. (forces the camera in 1/180 mode). Then the TTL mode of the flash works beautifull. No need for another flash.
