K7 AND TAKUMAR135 F2.5 METERING?

Just received my k7 and 18-55 wr yesterday put 135 takumar lens on and it does not meter. I do not mind setting everything manualy but i thought meter in camera would work. Am i doing something wrong or will i need an out of camera light meter to use this and other older lens? thanks Rick

You need to learn how to do stop down metering. I have this lens and use it on my k10/k20. On my k20, you set the lens focal length to 135 on start up. Then to meter, you set the camera on manual mode, you see the speed and F--- idication. Varry the fstop on the lens to what you want, then press the green button. The camera will varry the speed to the right setting based on the light through the lens from the f stop you set. Change the f stop then press the green button and the speed will change again. That's basicall it.
