K100 D Super

This camera works great with the 18-55 Pentax lense that came with it, but when I install a Sigma UC Zoom lense the shutter button does not operate. I bought this camera because I thought it would accept all the lenses from my old 35mm Pentax 1000. Is there a setting I need to change to get other lenses to operate?

Thank you in advance

Read your manual about using manual lenses.

Or look at the very first sticky post in the Pentax Beginners Corner:

Are you in AF.S? I've had my manual lenses not fire in AF.S if the subject is not in focus. It is how you setup focus trap with the K100DS.

I locked the A setting on the lense in place and it works great. Thanx.
