Hmm

Makes me wonder if this a thread just to push connections for the Kx giveaway....

I almost think the 645 is too big for me, and I love em big. I love the size of that sensor and really wish they could cut it in half and put it in a full framer, but we have to live with what they make, and the K7 is the best....

Of course, I continue to stick with my K10, which I actually prefer control-wise compared to the Kx......I hate that they moved the controls for WB ISO and flash up from the menu, as I constantly change my AF points....

Hmmmm,
if I win the K-x then I could use the savings for a 645!!
Well, maybe not quite but close....so close

Personally I think that you should just go for the 645D. That why you will NEVER have to worry about upgrading your camera again. You know how people always say that they have outgrown their cameras? Well if you get the 645D then you won't have to ever worry about that, since Pentax doesn't make anything higher than it. In fact, nobody makes anything higher than it! (well except for NASA). So really, just "take the plunge" and buy it.

I don't know whether the 645D is worth the extra weight around my neck while traveling.

Who wears a camera around their neck? Carry the 645 by your side or in your hand, so you will always be ready for the shot. Take it everywhere. Enjoy it. Pamper it. Love it.

And if you get tired of it, send it to me.

I do not need the 645D. I'm not sure what I'd do with it. I don't think that I'd generate enough business to pay for it. I don't have the money. I don't have supporting gear.

I do not need the 645D.
I do not need the 645D.
I want the 645D.

Of course, that was a parody of myself and my post about the travel lens. I've actually never had a strap on my 645.

Okay, I cannot resist being the first to post this.

SHOULD I GET THE KX OR THE NEW 645D? Is the 645D actually worth the extra $9000.00? The KX weighs less, is smaller, has in body SR, higher fps, greater selection of lenses, uses AA batteries and costs less. The 645D has more than 3X the mp, larger sensor and weather seals. Gee, I cannot make up my mind. Would someone please help me decide?

I don't know if I can live with only 1.5 fps and no in body SR or AA batteries. Pentax is surely doomed because of this, doomed I tell you!!!!! DOOOOMMMMED No one is going to spend over $9000.00 on the 645D when they have the KX availible to them. I give Pentax two maybe three decades and they will be gone because of this mistake!

That still leaves me wondering, should I get the KX or the 645D? Will someone help me decide?

(For those that cannot tell, this is only for fun. We need fun threads that we can pick on each other and laugh at our selves. Threads that no one takes seriously.)
With the competition going on for 3 prizes in 1000000th post comp, I feel that there are a number of "just for fun" threads going on.

I was going to answer your question, but if it is just for fun, I dont see the need.
Hope you are confronted with such a decision one day!

Medium format? Only the silly rich will buy that these days.

If someone were to give me one for free, I'd sell it at half price (if anyone would buy it) and get myself a K-x.

I shoot LOTS of MF, and nothing with such a small format as the piddly little 645D.

Let's see, there's the Minolta Autocord TLR, and Zeiss Ikonta B folder, and Kodak Brownie Twin 20, and Ansco Panda, and Anscoflex TLR (Raymond Loewy design), and Herbert George Official Girl Scout, all 6x6 (56x56mm frames); and the Kodak Monitor, and KW Patent-Etui folders, both 6x9 (56x84mm frames). None of this stuff weighs very much either. And it was all REAL CHEAP.

That 645D only has a 33x44mm frame; real 645 has about 41x56mm frames. To compare: 35mm/FF is 24x36mm, and APS-C is about 17x25mm. If I stick a 135 cart in a 6x6 cam I get 40x56mm frames, about the same as a 645D; in a 6x9 I get 40x84mm frames, better than a 2:1 pano! Sprocket holes included at no extra charge.

645D with a 55mm lens? Feh. I'll stick a 6x6 folder in one pocket, a 6x9 in the other, hang a light meter around my neck, and I'm BLOODY READY FOR TROUBLE, as Eric Clapton said before he passed out on stage in Buffalo NY. But that's another story.

Amazingly I think this topic was started before the contest started.

Although there is never a shortage of fun topics here, that's what makes PentaxForums such an awesome place.

This two cameras are totally different, the K-x costs nothing in comparison with the 645D. If you have money and are a goog photographer you can buy the 645D but if you don't print your photo in big format you don't need this camera.

Hey, last thing I read from you you couldn't make up your mind between Rebel and Kx, and now you are advising others!?

Ah, sorry, did not know how to read the emoticon.

I have seen enough people with giant cameras on straps to not assume anything! I don't even carry my K20D around my neck.
