K20D Shutter noise

Hi all,

I just bought a new k20d after using a k10d for 3 years and have found the k20d's shutter to be quite noisy. It makes this kind of whirring noise after I've taken a shot.

Does anyone have this problem? Is this what the shutter noise is like on the k20d or have I got a bad camera?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. I hope you will post an intro also telling us a little about yourself and your interests. But back to your question at hand....my k20d clicks about as loud as I can imagine any camera but thats it. I don't hear any noise after the 1/4 second double-click sound. No whirring.

Does your noise last much longer for slow shots (1/2s) versus fast (1/500s)?

I do hear the whirring sound in my K20D. But it's been doing it for over 19*000 frames and they've mostly turned out OK.

Never heard it on mine, just the shutter sound and thats it, nothing else. I don't think the shutter sound is to noisy either slightly louder than a friends eos 50D but not by much.

Welcome to the forums. My K20D shutter sound exactly as my K10D shutter. I compared the two and side by side and sound the same. Did the previous owner didn't mentioned that?

Well, as I have experienced working around people of different—ahem—generations, some people can hear something perfectly clearly while others hear only silence. So maybe that explains it?

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I bought the camera new in the box, never used from a camera retail outlet so there was no previous owner to ask

Apparently you never used a K100D...The thuh-WHACK of the mirror was kind of embarrasing.

I can't remember if it always made that noise but I noticed the whirring somewhere along the line of 10k shots and now I'm at about 26k so I wouldn't worry.

My k20d also makes a noise, a vibration really, sometimes after a shot. The vibration-noise has been going on for quite a while now so I'm thinking it must be the SR doing something strange.
