K-7 Limited Silver

Received my K-7 Limited Silver 3 days ago.
It's really cool together with my 3 FA Limited.
Many thanks to my buddy Frank who took the pictures with his K-7 Black and posted in Clubsnap.
See link.

Congratulations! That really is a beautiful camera. Together with those sliver limiteds, it shows an attention to precision design and manufacturing that is quite rare among modern cameras. Some of us appreciate such things.

So where did you obtain said item? Did you order it all the way from Japan?

Beautiful set... if I have it, I will be torn between using it only as a collector item or actually using it until the it starts to wear. Now, I have a bit of buyer's remorse - why did I not get the silver version? My 77mm and 31mm are black, only the 43mm is silver.

Too bad it doesn't come with a matching silver grip.

I still think K-7 is too small for my hands, but I'd be willing to struggle with this beauty every and any day...

so yes indeed, I need money too

Just to be devil's advocate here, what does it matter what your camera looks like?

Short of being it being less noticeable or smaller, I don't see how it matters. But it must do somehow, as it sounds like coloured K-x's did well.

It's largely personal taste, but then many things which are largely intended to be tools still come customized to let the owner show their taste. Pickup trucks - especially the larger and more durable ones - are generally used for work, but can you imagine them being offered in white or black only?

The only slight advantage the K-7 Silver might have over the standard version from its body color is that it will reflect heat slightly better and hence may keep the sensor ever so slightly cooler. Beyond that it's just cosmetic.

That said, there are differences though. The K-7 Silver has a tempered glass LCD cover plate, versus an easier to scratch acrylic (or at least, something other than glass) cover plate on the standard version. There's also a different focusing screen, which some photographers may prefer.

Which reminds me... Ben or Frank, there was some debate about whether the AF screen had rule of thirds grid lines, or golden ratio grid lines. Can you confirm either way for those who may be interested? (I'm guessing it's rule of thirds, but not sure).
