What is the point of having almost infinite JPEG presets, as we do with the K-x, when you then disregard them by fiddling with the RAW image?
If you use DCR4 for jpeg conversion, then your presets matter. The raw image is displayed with your camera settings, although they area not applied until you extract the jpeg.

when i have plenty of light i shoot at iso 125, i found it a little less noiser than iso 200 but i don't have to underexpose to get rid of the higlight clipping at iso 100 (dunno if has less DR or you only need to underexpose by 1/2-2/3 stop).
Sice i shoot raw i use iso 12800 when needed (and do noise reduction in PP) even if the loss of fine detail between 6400 and 12800 it's quite evident when pixelpeeping but i've to print a couple of 10x15 to see if there are real difference.
If i was using jpg i don't know if i would use iso 12800, i found that with the built-in camera NR the fine detail are washed out.

Mine is set on 200-3200. I've gone back and forth between 200-1600 and 200-3200. I've found so long as I don't under expose, 3200 is OK.
