Pentax K-7 warranty

Before I pull the trigger on the Pentax K-7 I want to be sure about the warranty. My K200d has recently had problems right after the 1 year warranty expired, which is why im upgrading. I here all the time it has a one year warranty and an additional 2 years free of charge. What has to be done to get these two extra years? Is it something that comes inside the box that you mail back or what?

Why doesn't Pentax advertise it openly? What official statement or such is there saying you get an extra 2 year warranty?

Obviously Im extremely weary after my camera broke right after the one year warranty expired. If there is no additional two years I will not be buying this camera period. I want to jump on the J&R deal, which ends tomorrow, so please help!

By default, the K-7 comes with 1 year warranty.

I received the additional 2 yr warranty (3 yr. total) about 2 weeks after sending an email message to Pentax Customer Support requesting it. I attached a scanned copy of the invoice with the email message. The additional warranty also includes a complimentary CLA within the warranty period.

I don't know why Pentax doesn't publicize this fantastic deal.

If you want to know for sure, contact Pentax Customer Support.

If you want to have someone to get the additional warranty for you, you can buy it for not much. See here and here.

Waaaa!! Thanks for this excellent news!!!
Everybody should get aware of this! I just sent a mail to Pentax France.
I hope they do the same. My reseller proposed an extension for more than 200 euros...

And I didn't had the extra money.

I guess this amazon.com will not work for me living in France and having bought the K-7 in the Netherlands?

The email to Pentax should also include the camera serial number. Rather than scan my invoice, I just pulled up the invoice from Amazon and copied/pasted it into a Word file that I attached to the email.
