Looking For K-x

I'm looking for a k-x, this will be my first dslr purchase. I have used a film slr for a while. Where is the best place right now, price-wise, to look for one? I found one at Primocamera.com that is 469.99 with the kit lens, has anyone used this site before? Also wondering if I should go with the kit lens or just buy the body and get a lens or two off of the for sale forums here. Opinions welcome and thanks!

I use froogle.com to search. You can also check out ***************.

IMHO, the K-x 2 lens kit with the 18-55 & 55-300 lenses is the best deal among all entry-level DSLRs.

I just bought K-x with the 2 lens kit for just a little over $700 at B&H w/free shipping which was the best deal I could find at the time. I am still learning as I haven't used a slr for years so I am in the learning mode. So far I have been very happy with my K-x and unless I mess up it takes great pictures.

BTW: If you do go to B&H to look be sure to go there from Pentax Forums so they get the credit, it helps support the site.

Beware of less than reputable camera companies, always check reseller ratings to verify before buying.

I paid ~$450 for my red kx (slightly more than a black one) about 3 months ago with Bing Cash Back. You can find any of the kx for ~$470 on Ebay with BCB. I also wouldn't hesitate to buy used k-xes with low actuations on the forum marketplace.

Wow, the prices keep going down more and more each day! The last time I looked the two lens kit was still $800 or so. Is it still that much?

Yup. Bought a petal hood for the 18-55 for $15, still waiting to get one for the 55-300.

Really cool that I was able to sell my K2000, 18-55, Tammy 70-300 with a few little odds and ends for $500. Cheap upgrade!

That is insane that the two lens kit is going for that much!

When I look at the marketplace the 55-300mm seems to have not gone down in price though.

Yeah. I see folks buying the DA L 55-300 for close to $300 and can only shake my head. :ugh:

The DA L sells here at an average of $250.
Compared to the price of the DA version though, that price is "kinda" acceptable.
You are basically getting the same optical quality of the DA version in a DA L price.
How I still wish it would go down though so I can get me one too!

Well considering that you're getting it for another $100 added to the kit, it does seem a little ridiculous.

Can't go wrong with Amazon. Got mine with the kit 18-55mm about 1.5 months ago for $498 including shipping (if you go with amazon make sure you look at all of the sellers to find the cheapest dealer but with good positive feedback).

I think you should go that route because a 18-55mm lens is a very basic knockaround lens that, in my opinion is a lens everyone should have, and you can always find good deals on just about any and every pentax lens in the marketplace.
