K-7 firmware 1.03.00.22

Hi!

There is a new firmware 1.03.00.22 available on the Pentax Japan site:

Latest K-7 Firmware Update : Software Downloads : PENTAX

I downloaded and upgraded it without any problems.

ps. I have also posted this on the DPReview forum.

Pentax K7 silent firmware update: 1.03.00.22: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review suggested a new firmware 1.03.00.22. I add that I have not checked it yet. As last time, the new firmware is available first in Japan (Latest K-7 Firmware Update : Software Downloads : PENTAX) and it is not yet listed at Pentax USA. It will be interesting to see if this is a very minor or minor update.

Let us wait if more information is available on the Pentax North American website. The latest official update was in Feb. 2010 (according to my own record).

Can you just download it at the Pentax Japan website or do you have to wait until the USA one is updated (I've never downloaded a firmware update so I don't know how it all works and stuff)!

You can download it now (go to the bottome end of the page). The installation is similar to the previous firmware.

Holding Menu + power on k7 show only 1.03

Someone might check before and after updating to see if there is any change in the burst rate at hi and lo drive. I have a feeling that might have changed (faster now) but it's too late for me to check.

looks like pentax released 2 "silent" fw upgrades at the same (close) time, one for the k7 and one for the kx.
coincidence ? maybe they both have similar updates to common algorithms?

i'm happy that pentax is continually updating their FW to improve their cameras, but i wish they would let us know what the improvements are.

Sounds like it a precursor to a 1.04 firmware update, they seem to do the silent fixes before an official release.

I don't know what's changed, but on my pc only timestampe of the firmware in the archive has changes from 6:17 to 7:17. I won't update since I don't see any advantage (no info)

Some user from another forum reported that their video recording last longer from slower cards. Before this, they record less than 1 min. Now around 9min +
