Perhaps they would like to see a spike in sales as the forecasted numbers didn't match up to what was currently sold for the last little while? Or maybe B&H is justy are just being nice in giving a discount to Pentaxians?

Hope to see them soon north of the boarder for that price. Lowest I've seen is about $1050 (body only)

Well, I'm glad I got mine when I did the first of February. Sure would have missed lots of shots the last 2.5 months if I hadn't had it.

But it will be interesting to see how low the price goes--and what the next Pentax will be.

Watching K-7 prices nose-dive can only mean one thing... Pentax must have something absolutely spectacular that will be very reasonably priced as a replacement.

A very nice camera and if it price becomes more affordable, we would be seeing a lot more upgrading to this.

It's sad how much cameras (from every brand) depreciate, but I would hope to someday get a K-7 just because it's an amazing camera after it has gone down about another hundred dollars or so.

The K10D was near $1000 when it was released though, and now sometimes you can get it used for $250. It just happens with cameras.

Agreed. My *istD is as old as a digital Pentax DSLR goes. Wouldn't mind a K-7 at all.

Falling k-7 prices just makes my decision more complicated. I was going to skip the k-7 (I got my k20 in December 2008) and wait for the next release, but falling prices and a growing business are making the k-7 really tempting. $874 may just be too good to pass up.

I'm with you on that. Business for me is picking up, too, and I am getting more and more nervous about walking around with one body. I have a big check coming (hopefully). Time to pull the plug. And if the next great body comes along, a relatively new k-7 will be a fantastic second body and my k20 can find a new home

in the past 2 months, it's dropped from $999 to $874. that's $125.
IIRC, the k20 got as low as $650. i wonder how low the K7 would go. there's still about 5 months before photokina, but of course the "leaks" would probably come out in 4 months

That's exactly the position I am in. I bought my K20D just after Xmas 2008 and have recently been thinking of upgrading but felt I can wait until the new model comes out. These falling prices, however, are tempting. That said, the dealers in the UK don't seem to be that generous. The best price I have seen this side of the pond is £730, which is >$1100! So I think I'll continue to wait or maybe get my friend in the US to buy it for me, but not yet!

To make a proper price comparison, you should take off VAT / Sales tax, normally included in European prices.
For instance here a K-7 can be purchased for € 880, take of 19% VAT = € 739 * 1.36 = $ 1005.
Still much more expensive....
