Good bye old friend

This is the last photo taken by my K10D yesterday. I had it mounted on a tripod with the legs folded and using it as a mono-pod when I made a misstep and fell down the steps here. The K10D went flying and bounced waist high and rolled and bounced several times. The 18-55mm kit lens took most of the shock to it(the lens) on the lens shade and is fine. The K10D seems in good physical condition with no scratches or dings but now it keeps saying the memory card is locked and then gives me a memory error no matter what card I put in it.....soooo...Lil Dawg feels soo bad about the whole thing and told me to buy another...K7... where are you? Looks like I get to upgrade a little sooner than I had planned on....Shucks....I keep telling her I can get by with out a camera (Kinda like brer rabbit telling the fox to please don't throw him into the briar patch)!!!! LOL Oh well the K10D had way over 100,000 photos taken with it so maybe it was time anyway.

100 000! Wow, that is something! Over how long a time period was that? Sorry about the misfortune, but after that many exposures you certainly deserve a new one.

Sad yes, but at least you can say "Well served and served well."
100.000 wow, the K10d must feel like retiring to where all old cameras go.

Oh no ! That K10D had to kill itself because its owner hadn't never let it take a break . Big Dawg, you're such a terrible slave driver .
Poor K10D, rest in peace!

I got it in early 2007. A year and a half later with 80,000 clicks it stopped working and I sent it off to Pentax for repairs. They wiped it clean of the photo count and everything else when they replaced some electronics aboard and now according to Photome, it has over 54,000 more on it. It has been a good one.

I still am going to get it repaired one day for a backup. It deserves that at least.

Thank you my friend. I'll put it beside the K1000 and ME Super now sitting idle and unused. All truly well built and very heavily used by me.

I use them probably more than most as it takes a lot of photos before I get any good ones.

Wow, its good to hear that your alright and that you didn't break anything on your way down. A broken camera is painful but a broken bone hurts a whole lot worse. It's also good to hear that you will be getting a new camera too, it sure did work out great.

Awww, that's terrible, I hope you're Ok. Your camera unfortunately doesn't seem to have fared as well as you, well I would just say use this opportunity to go and buy a new one, the K-7 probably sounds really nice right now.

I has a similar mishap with my K20D about a year ago: same symptoms. I sent it in for repair and it's going strong.
