Include battery when sending for repairs?

I am about to send my K-7 to C.R.I.S to have something checked out. Does anyone know whether or not I need to include my battery along with the camera? Seems like I read somewhere else that I shouldn't send the battery, but I can't seem to locate that information anywhere at the moment. Thoughts?

There is always the possibility that the battery will get lost, so from that POV, no, don't send it.
OTOH, without knowing what you are having checked, if it is even remotely possible that it is a battery related problem, then it isn't a bad idea.

Not a battery related problem. Sounds like good advice, I'll send it without the battery. I don't see any reason that it should be a problem.

I would also send the camera without battery. You do not want to loose the battery by mistake. Also you may save on the freight cost since the battery adds weight.

Normally, I send my dSLR to the service and repair center minus the batteries and memory card.
This is to ensure no item is lost or changed at the center when the camera is being repaired.

Cheers.

Why don't you call them to make sure what they want?

When mine went in over here, they kept camera and all lenses (focus issue) but gave me back battery and memory card.

No battery.....

I recently had my k20 serviced, and prior to sending it in called and asked exactly what they would prefer. I was told to remove the battery, memory card and strap. Basically, I sent in the body with body cap. Also included a detailed letter indicating what the issues were.....

It was returned to me in about 3 weeks time. Best of all, it was FIXED

good luck
