Sigma's105mmf2.8 macro

Purchased this lens along with my recently purcahsed K10D and had a slight squizz at it last night and noticed that the front of this lens(glass section) is rececced back someway from the front of the actual body of the lens??, this normal as all other Lens i own/owned have the glass at the very front of the lens..

That is normal for macro lenses. I don't have experience with the Sigma 105mm in particular, but my Takumar 50mm macro is that way.

I personally own the lens and yes it's exactly like you've stated. It's a smart little feature because you really don't need a lens hood and if you do it then there is absolutely no way light can hit the front element at a bad angle.

Enjoy the lens and I can't wait to see what you get with it!
