Vivitar PK-A / R-PK 2 x converter

I just bought a Vivitar 2x tele converter which has 7 electrical contacts, however my K10D doesn't 'see' the aperture, even when the lens attached to the converter is set on 'A'.

So, my question is: is the converter a bad one, or is there something I'm missing?

Do any of the connecting terminals need to be blanked off? Or what?

The camera does recognise and set the aperture on an 'A' lens without the converter, just something is missing when I put the tele converter in between.

Any help appreciated.

Does it look like this one, note the group of 6 electrical contacts? (Ignore the fact that this one does not have any glass):

If it does, and the surface of the rear is anodized (or painted), you need to scrape the surface to bare metal to ground the "extra" electrical contact on the camera body. See arrow in the photo below:

Yes, that's exactly what it looks like. Can't post photos as it's now in pieces. It jammed on an 'A' lens, so I disassembled it to free it.

I modified my previous post to add a photo showing what needs to be done.

While you're at it, remove the electrical contact that is by itself (not in the group of 6). It does nothing to Pentax but causing jamming trouble.

Thank you very much, your help is appreciated. Now the fun part of putting it back together.

Thanks again.

Hahaha..... This is one time you wish you had three paws.....

It's been a while, but IIRC, it's easier to assemble the front (chrome-plated) first, and then the rear (black).

Thank you again. Don't know where I'd be without the forum.
