Anyone know of a flare tutorial? How to shoot good lens slare shots?

i see really cool beachy shots with lens flare making the model look real nice. anyone know of tutorials for me to read that teach how to create this effect?

There was a good one in Pop Photo two months ago (Feb issue). Gonna see if I can find an online link.

I didn't remember that, so I grabbed the issue, and I don't see anything. What page?

A couple of things to consider:
*A lot of those flare shots may be done in post processing, not in camera.
*Pentax lenses tend to have much better flare control than those from Nikon, Canon, Sony, et al. Since most of the pictures you are seeing are most likely shot on one or the other of those three brands, you might find you can't get good flare effects in camera with your Pentax.

There is a light tutorial on an outdoor shot into the sun with some fire fighters. I'm pretty sure it was Feb's issue. Gonna have to see if I can find it now.

The very early M42 lenses did not have the coatings we have been spoiled with. You could quite possibly get creative flare from them. Being that early, manual only and/or preset aperture, they are not in the over hyped popular price range.
