The Lee Big Stopper
Posted By: devem, 11-25-2012, 12:08 PM

I have just ordered the Lee big Stopper but not the holder because I am hoping it will fit my Cokin filter holder, according to feedback on one site it will fit but still let light in. Has anyone tried it or made a spacer sucessfuly to stop light passing, or will I have to fork out for a holder as well. If I do have to buy a Lee holder will my Lense adaptors fit the Lee holder or do I have to buy them again as well.
I would appreciate any advice.

Well if you are referring to the Cokin P holder, it will not fit. The Big Stopper is a 100mm sized filter (bigger than the P which is 85mm) so it's not about letting light in, rather it just won't fit. If you are referring to the Z Pro system, then yes, they will fit without a problem. If you have to buy the holder, Hitech makes an alternative to the Lee Foundation kit and of course you can also opt for the Cokin Z. About the adaptors, same thing, if you refer to the P system, then no, they will not work and you will have to buy new rings for whatever new holder you get.

Thanks for the reply, I was referring to the coking P filter and you've answered my question apart from the adaptor rings, do the adaptor rings that fit the P coking fit any other filter holder.

Mainly the Cokin P lookalikes, but to my knowledge there is no 100mm filter holder that uses the P sized adaptor rings.

The Lee Big Stopper

Thanks again, it looks like I will just have start again by buying a holder and the adaptor rings.
Mike.
