and you are sure you have also corrected the focallengthin35mmformat?
Yes, I run the bat with the following entries:
"C:\ExifTool\exiftool" -progress -overwrite_original -k -ext dng -ext pef -r "-exif:FocalLength<copy2:FocalLength" "-exif:FocalLengthIn35mmFormat<Calc35mm" -if "not $FocalLength ge 10" "%1"

After this I actualized the metadata in LR - the focal length is now displayed well, but not the lens model.

Then I ran the LR-plugin from this site:
DigitalFotoNetz.de :: Thema anzeigen - Sigma 8-16 Brennweite < 10mm in EXIF vorhanden

Everything is now displayed well, the lens model and the focal length. But nothing happens when I start the lens correction.

Sigma Lenses in Lightroom 3.6

Hello,
I have 2 Sigma lenses: 8-16 mm and 150-500 mm.
In LR 3.6, the first didn't show focal length when >10 mm. The bat file above solved my problem, but:

1) didn't show Lens Model in LR show info, but focal length only;
2) LR lens correction is not automatic: I must select "personal profile", then select manually the lens profile (8-16 or 150-500).

I built a batch file assembling the 2 command lines wrote by Beholder3:

"d:\Program Files\Utility\exiftool\exiftool" -overwrite_original "-exif:LensModel<makernotes:LensType" "-XMP:Lens<makernotes:LensType" "-exif:LensInfo<LensID" "-exif:LensMake<LensManufacturer" "d:\pictures\test"

"d:\Program Files\Utility\exiftool\exiftool" -progress -overwrite_original -k -ext dng -ext pef -r "-exif:FocalLength<copy2:FocalLength" "-exif:FocalLengthIn35mmFormat<Calc35mm" -if "not $FocalLength ge 10" "d:\pictures\test"

Running this bat file, LR 3.6 shows both Lens Type and Focal Length < 10 mm. but:
a) problem n. 2 is still open: I must assign manually the right lens profile (Sigma 8-16 or Sigma 150-500)
b) the first command line, when runs, shows this error: "warning: not enough values specified (4 required) for ExifIFD:Lensinfo"

Can you help me solving a) and b)?
Thank you.

a) there is no solution I know of. I always choose the profiles manually. Takes only a second.
b) this is just a warning because some data is missing in the exifs, it is no error and does no harm. The field LensInfo required four input values and for some lenses these can not be derived from other data. You can fill them manually if you wish. lensInfo requires the focal length ends of a lens and the apertures at these ends, so for a 50/1.5 it is "50 50 1.4 1.4" and for a 35-80mm F3.5-5.6 it is "35 80 3.5 5.6".
many thanks for your quick answer, Beholder3!

Hmm, I just dumped all metadata from an image taken with my K30 using the Sigma 8-16mm and I don't see any focal length values in the Makernotes.
Aside from SR Focal Length it seems all focal length data is 0mm :-(

Late to the party but picked this up and all I can say is THANKS!!!

I just incorporated it into a little bash file that can quickly parse through an entire directory:

#!/bin/bash
let "nbfiles = $# -2"
ref=$(kdialog --title "UFRB-KDE" --progressbar "(Initialising ...)" 15)
qdbus $ref Set org.kde.kdialog.ProgressDialog maximum $nbfiles
count=0
for i in "$@";do
if [ -f "$i" ];then
let "count +=1"
exiftool exiftool '-exif:FocalLength<copy2:FocalLength' '-exif:FocalLengthIn35mmFormat<Calc35mm' $i
qdbus $ref setLabelText "ExifTool - Updated Sigma 8-16 file: `basename "$FILE"` ($count of $nbfiles files)"
qdbus $ref Set org.kde.kdialog.ProgressDialog value $count
fi;
done
qdbus $ref close

Hi

I just received an Sigma 8-16, and as some might be interested, I just post that this command works for me in Terminal of MacOSX (with exiftool installed, of course):

As does PTLens...you just have to input manually the focal length for 8 and 9 mm

Don't they all "handle the data" just fine if it is there? Problem is the data is not there -- camera doesn't output it...so you have to add it to the RAW files.
