Pentax's Service Center in AZ.

I am having to send my 1 month old w90 to the service center in Chandler Az. What kind of time frame am I looking at. Any ideas?

I think it really depends on what needs to be fixed. However, my recent experience was 5-6 weeks for a repair to my K20. The key point is when they get back to you with an estimate of the repair (in your case it's likely under warrentee). A that point they should be able to give you a good guess on the repair time.

Apparently they get the camera in house. Then it goes into the diagnostic queue. Then they tell you what's wrong and what it will take to fix it.

My best guess is about a month for your planning purposes. YMMV.

Why don't you ask Pentax? They would be the most-qualified to answer. Even then, double the time.

Because i would hope i would get a real answer here. Not a company rep that has nothing to do with repairs tells me 3-4 weeks.

OK 4 weeks from sending it out to Pentax. And 3.5 weeks since they recd it. Apprently Pentax uses a service center to handle all the repairs. ( thats cool) However. They decided that my camera (w90) is going to have to be replaced ON JUNE 9. So they ordered one from the manufactuer (pentax) and they wait to get it in. ITS BEEN 3 weeks since they told me this. I am seriously thinking once the NEW one arrives I will sell it on ebay. Get out of the W90 buisness. And maybe buy a DMC TS2.

I hate to do this since I really like the PENTAX brands but the service is lacking.
And BTW i have made all the communcation to the repair facility. They have not contacted me by phone or email.
Starting June 29 They will be getting a call everyday.

Interesting. I had an Optio W60 fail on me while vacationing this summer. I briefly thought about eBaying it for parts, since I had read some bad press about Pentax service & the camera was 4 days out of warranty at the time of failure.

I sent an email to Pentax via their customer service website & within 24 hours received a response from Randall S. that urged me to send it in. He indicated that if it weren't still covered by warranty, they would provide me an estimate for repairs. Having several extra batteries & accessories for it, I hated to cough up the money for a new camera. I sent it in, along with my original email, invoice, and request for warranty service.

Ten days after dropping it off at the Post Office, I received my camera back, fully functional! They had even cleaned up the outside of the case, making it look like new! I am totally satisfied with their service.

BTW, I called the service department at 800-877-0155 and was treated courteously by the service department.
