My "NEW" Pentax Zoom90-WR

Here's my latest toy:
Pentax Zoom90-WR This camera was released around 1991 or so. I have no idea about how long it was in production.
I'm going to Disney World on vacations and want something cheap and cheerful for the attractions where you get wet.

Nice set of specs:
Water Resistant (not submersible)
Full frame HA! 35mm
zoom lens 35-90mm
macro mode
Muti Beam autofocus
Spot AF
Infinity/Landscape AF
12 sec timer
dual timer (1 picture after the 12 seconds and another one a few seconds after)
Integrated flash with red eye reduction
Continuous shooting mode (sloooow but continuous )
Multiple exposure
Convenient Infrared remote that is part of the camera when not in use
auto frame advance y rewind
DX film coding
Bulb mode
Bulb Synchro mode with predetermined time up to 10 minutes
Night scene mode
...among others....

Here are some sample pics with Kodak Gold 100 on Father's day.

The camera works nice. It feels sturdy. The zoom range is not really wide to tele, but rather slightly wide normal to slightly tele normal if you know what I mean. Not very wide nor very tele but a nice range to help in composition. Keep in mind this is a P&S, not an SLR. Even with the poor local drugstore scans it works well. I used it with a set of well used batteries and went thru a roll without any problems.
The first frame shot shows some light leak problems but the rest are fine. Will check on that on the next roll.
Now to have fun with it! Looking forward to get is soaked!

I like the sticker on front of the camera with the open faucet and says "OK".
Nothing could best explain its capabilities than that!

As for the slight light leak problem, well, sometimes the rubber seals on those waterproofed P&Ses were known to lose some of their spring with age. It may have been just a little compressed at first, possibly, and taken a while to expand again. Depending what they're made of, they may be able to be rejuvenated somewhat.

I purchased a similar camera, a Pentax 105 date, for my wife to use on an o/s trip in 1995. It performed faultlessly....we still have it, I still use it, and it's still performing you should have a similar run with yours.
Cheers, Pickles.

The seal over the shutter release is in fact the most likely failure point for water leakage.
An expensive special adhesive is required when replacing it. Guess how I know this?

Pentax 90 wr

I had one when they first came out. It was the first camera to get me interested in photography. I bought another off of ebay about a year ago. It takes very good pictures. I was sad when my first one finally quit.

I got on eBay and ended up with a 90 and a 105 WR. Ive put a roll through the 105 and I'm impressed. Perfect exposures, nice clear pictures.

The remote control acting as part of the side grip is a nice feature. I didn't even realize that it was a remote until I scrolled down to the next picture.
