Who build Pentax Optio?

Most new Optios are made in Indonesia and China, while very old models made in Pentax-owned factories in Vietnam and Phillipines.

From this link: PENTAX

Pentax has no subsidiary factory in china and Indonesia. So, who build Optio digital compact line for Pentax?

I see most Fujifilm, Nikon Coolpix and Olympus are made in China and Indonesia too. May be some generic electronics company out there that do R&D and then customize each platform to each brand specifications. Even some Li-ion batteries are compatible among these brands.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pentax only made the lens and wrote the software.

What you see on the linked page seems only to be the sales management facilities, excepted for Japan.
And we all know they don't build so much hardware in Japan.

As Adam say, perhaps they just provide the software & lens.
Another approach would be owning facilities and not mentioning it on the web page. Moreover, AFAIK, you need a local partner to run a business in China, so... There must be someone "with" Pentax / Hoya. I won't go too much in depth in this explanation.

For the batteries being compatible across brands, keep in mind that in most developments nowadays, one tends to take some components off the shelf. It may well be the case for the battery, as there you spare the experience of studying and manufacturing one (or asking a battery specialist like for example Varta). Hence a good saving due to streamlining.

I dissambled a Optio 330GS a while back and found that it used a Sony CCD sensor . I don't know who makes the sensors used in more recent models though.
