Point & Shoot Contest #37 - Black and White Landscapes

Here we go, this time around the contest will be Black and White Landscapes, these can be infrared if you want but I doubt many people have converted a point and shoot to into one, options available though. Any type of Landscape, City, Nature, urban, etc...You get the idea.

The rules:

1. Have fun!

2. No 35mm, APS, or 4/3 slr/dslr cameras allowed. No film slrs except Pentax 110 (grandfathered in). 35mm and smaller rangefinder/viewfinder cameras are allowed. No large format cameras allowed.

3. Entries will close on Dec. 28th midnight central time, USA.

4. Max image dimensions are 800 X 800 pixels.

5. List camera brand, model, with entry for all to see.

6.THEME - Black and White Landscapes (Black and White Infrared also acceptable)

7. Max 3 photographs per person.

8. Post processing is fine.

9. Winner will set up and judge next contest.

It took me a while to find the right one. B&W is not something I have played with just yet... but this is what I got.
Now this one was taken in a car, on the way home. It's getting closer to the City of Melbourne & just got to me.. power lines. Big ones, lots of them. For miles.

So this is the best of the lot. Hope you like it. It's simply called "Power"

My reply to barondla's request for more how-to on my #36 contest entry got munched with the server migration, so if anybody's really interested I can put it up again, but basically it's just waving a camera in front of a TV.

Here are my entries for the B&W landscape, no titles--just 1, 2, and 3! Nice theme, Abstract.

Camera is a Pentax S5i, PP in GIMP for cropping, white point adjustment, and some sharpening.

Since I like both B&W and landscapes, it was a bit difficult to select only 3 .

All taken with Panasonic FX500.

A dreary day

Winter evening

I have always been very pleased with this little, simple P&S camera.
What I do find however, is that the files seem to have a lot less leeway for PP than those from a DSLR.

Thanks, G.T

I know I'm late .

But things are rather hectic over here, both at work and at home.
Looking forward to the upcoming holidays.

This one is a view of the Tréport, a french city on the Channel side, where Europe's highest chalk cliffs stand.

Errr I still have some days to set off by the end of the month don't ever talk about vacation (but when holidays come, I love them).
For some reasons, when the words "B&W" are written here, most of us must think of you. Weird, isn't it ?

Ghl, wondered what happened to your tutorial on the tv image. The site has been going thru problems lately. Luckily, read it before it went away. Thanks for the explanation.

Some really great B&W images in this contest.
thanks

It got deleted in the server migration, it was only there for a little while so I'm glad you saw it.

Are you gonna post anything for the B&W contest?
