Flash diffuser for X90

Works great on the pop-up of my K-x... I use black gaffa (believe this is called 'duck'?) tape on the back of the can so the light goes forward and doesn't blind me...

Wow not really a big difference

damn. I wonder if a bit of white paper stuck on the inside may do it better? I have a strange one on at the moment & because it is slightly transparent it does not do the job at all

I like the ideas that the other posts had using the film cannister. I'm heading to the camera shop to get a couple to try out. Just threw some away last week as I have been selling off my Pentax film systems. Will see if the results are similar between the K-x and X90 with that option.

I ended up having to take the adapter off till a solution is found cause of the dark shadow it causes on the bottom of the photo

Tested out the film cannister diffuser. As in the previous test there was a more noticeable difference with the K-x and some difference with the X90.
I'd say the film cannister method is worth some more work.
Don't cut the slot too wide as the can will be floppy on the flash.
Give it a whirl and post some results. Your tests may have better results than the minimal tests I have run.

I as well have the Pentax X90 and was thinking about purchasing the kiwifoto lens adapter. Does this mean I can now buy filters that are 72mm?:

Also, would this mean I can attach this 72mm fish eye lens?:

It sure does mean that. Any 72mm filter will fit the adapter. But if you want to take a photo with flash then you have to have something to bounce the flash because it does leave a small darker area on the bottom of the photo. Other than that it's a brilliant adapter to have. I have about 40 filters for it now & I love it.

The fisheye lens however will NOT be able to be used on it as it is a lens & not just a filter. Also that lens is 58mm & not 72mm

What kind of filters do you most commonly use? I've researched them somewhat, but don't know which to purchase as my first. I'm just taking pictures socially, nothing major...

I made sure I had a UV, polarizer, and a ND one. Everything else was just extras.

A new post in the DSLR forum that has some more ideas for diffusers. There is a simple one there for a pop up flash using milk jug material that may work for you. Check it out

I've used a piece of coffee filter wrapped on the flash with a rubber band...did ok.
