Again we had a great contest. 26 entries, making my job not at all easy.
I tend to look at images in a very intuitive way: does it 'work' for me or less so.
I don't get into analysing things like composition, exposure etc. Of course, chances are that when these things are not done right, the result will not work or not so well.
This is a very subjective method and other people might very well come up with a totally different result. That's one of the reasons I'm very bad at commenting other peoples work. At best, I'll come up with a remark like: "I like it" or "It works for me"
.
I prefer to keep working like this. I feel analysing takes something out of the experience. Like a child looking at a rainbow versus a grown-up understanding the optics from the phenomenon. Some "magic" is lost.
Same with music. Why do I like Vivaldi? Because I do
.
All of this because I want to stress that my selection is entirely subjective. So, don't feel bad if you didn't "make it".
I even had some winners disagree with me in the past
.
What I take into consideration as well, is how the images fit with the theme.
When you set a theme, you do so with certain expectations. It is very interesting to see what other people come up with.
So, for the results:
I seem not to be able to avoid another joint place
.
Joint third place for RyanW and ghl
RynanW - Time Weathered Truck
ghl - Sea Lion Demise
Second place for Mike Cash - Alongside the road in rural Sano
And finally, a last minute entry, winner is chubasco:
My congratulations to all that participated and special congratulations to chubasco, Mike Cash, ghl & RyanW.
Since 'Reputation' gets more important on the forum these days, I thought it would be a good idea to add to the 4 finalists.
Well chubasco, it's up to you now to set up and judge the Point & Shoot Contest # 39. I'm curious to see what you'll come up with.
