How fragile is the glass lens cover on an Optio W80?
Is it coated, or simply a piece of glass to waterproof the lens?

Don't really know. I don't do anything special to care for mine. I treat it like any other lens. The LCD on my seems to be more prone to scratching though. I keep mine in a soft case although it gets knocked around a bit when I'm out sea kayaking.

Hi Tim,
It's a rugged little roustabout, and I've occasionally just rubbed it on my sleve or pant leg to wipe water off, but it occurred to me this could be a mistake.
Did you know it has an automatic panoramic mode?

Ron, I just realized that it was you asking the question...really, I'm more concerned about the LCD scratching than the lens.

No, I didn't recall that mode. It has so many modes (except usually the one I want at the time). I'll have to give it a try. I'm such a klutz at pano's, that I need all the help I can get.
