These two are shot with a Pentax Optio A40:

New Life

A new, green Lycopodium shoot emerges through the fallen fall leaves at Cedarville State Forest in Maryland, USA. Shot with a Pentax Optio A40, ISO 100, F/2.8 1/250s.

All the leaves are brown

A new patch of moss adds a splash of green to anotherwise brown forest floor at Cedarville State Forest in Maryland, USA. Pentax Optio A40, ISO 100 F/5.4 1/30s.

I will have a third one on the way, but I have to find it first.

Enuff stuff

Many nice pictures from everyone. Zulu time 12h42, the contest runs for a little less than 10 hours.

Really like the first one, Eric! Something delicate about it.

Here it is... Time to give the results.

First of all, I have to say it has been a tough choice, and I'm glad there were so many nice entries on "my" contest, I mean the one I had to set and judge.

3rd: Erik. Emerging new lycopodium (I hate flowers names) gives an idea of somewhat of a rebirth

2nd: Chubasco, with an impressive falling perspective underneath the cherryblossom, well-balanced composition on light and shadows.

The winner is...
Immunogirl. I just love the thin ice layer above what was a flower, a burgeon, a branch... took under ice again, burnt out by ice. "Almost" is not "is". That's often the way an early beginning ends.

I'd like to congratulate once again everyone who has been entering this contest. I have also been impressed by the crocus shot Laurentiu Cristofor. I'm a bit amazed by the crispness of the picture, moreover it's took with a phone.
"Krokus" also was a Swiss rock band, but I'd be going slightly off-topic here.

Thank you everybody once again for having entered the competition.

Woohoo! Third place! I thought I was hopelessly outclassed this month.

Congrats to the winners!

(Also, it's Erik with a K. :P)

Congrats Erik & Chubasco! And thanks G.T., i didn't envy you the judging. Sadly, I have that responsibility this month.

I've resisted the temptation to call make April's contest "Spring is here!" or "Summer is almost here!"

That is the bad part of the job. I really hope I won't have to do it once more.
