Nice entry, Chubasco!

I haven't seen one of these ballons for years. I still remember the loud noise of the burners.

Here's my latest entry:

I have troubles linking properly with Picasa (I'm new to this).
Took with an Optio P80.

I figure it fits with the theme that the judging would be at a random moment time.

Deep and sincere apologies all around for the delay...took me forever to decide, plus life kept getting in the way, with frozen email accounts and cracked windscreens, late working hours and other things to keep me from doing much besides sleep and eat. I am very, very sorry this took so long.

However, after days of agonizing decision, the results are in:

Honorable Mentions:

Ivoire's "Searching" made me smile:

Very inventive, as was JanniCash's "Towel Day"

Both photos recieve honorable mention for outstanding thematic content.

Third place is a tie:

This photo by GT is inspired. The theme is represented by the wonder it inspires. It also doesn't hurt that I adore night shots.

The other third place finisher is:

This photo is not just a good example of the theme, but its superimposition of a real person over art is beautiful.

Second place is also a tied finish.

RyanW's "Egg-Cetera" is a great shot of a visually interesting subject. And even if it isn't The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, it's close.

The other second place entry:

Is an excellent shot by Bart, with a mood captured perfectly in Black and White. Reflective and somber without being depressing. Overall, a terrific shot.

The overall winner, though, is this shot from KyteFlyer:

The image of the man and his son (or Someone's son, at any rate) is beautifully illustrative of the concept of life. The fact that the shot kept so much of the ocean and beach around the subject gives me a sense of the vastness of the Universe...and I'm sure to that parent, his son is "everything". The composition, exposure, and all else is just right, too. A wonderful shot.

I would like to make it plain, however, that I enjoyed EVERY photo you guys sent in, and that I had more fun than a twister in a trailer park judging this contest. I can only hope that participating in Kyteflyer's contest will be as much fun.

I hear you there. It was tough for me too choose photos, because everything fit to some extent, but it turned out enjoyable because I looked through the photos and thought of them in different ways, how they might fit in to the contest.

Congrats everyone.

OMG! I have been quite ill the last week and had not looked in here for a while. Congrats to other winners and thanks to unixrevolution for choosing my little family shot. I'll post before the end of my day with a new theme... Didn't think I'd win this so haven't given theme much thought.

Thanks again, all
