Point and Shoot Contest #43: Wet, Wild or Stormy

Another contest which can be interpreted almost any way you like. I came very quickly to this point because the month is nearly half done, and there isn't as much time for people to get out and shoot for it, if they need to do that.

THE RULES

1. Have fun!

2. Allowable Cameras
i. Cameras Not Allowed:
  1. 35mm, APS, 4/3 Film or Digital SLRs.
  2. Interchangeable lens cameras of any kind.
  3. Medium format SLRs, Rangefinders, and TLRs.
  4. Large format cameras.

ii. Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rule i above):
  1. Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder cameras
  2. Interchangeable or Fixed-lens 110 Film SLRs
  3. 6x9, 6x7, 6x6, and 6x4.5 Medium Format"Folding", "Box" or "Holga-style" scale-focus cameras .

3. Entries will close on June 30th, 2011, midnight GMT.

4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 pixels.

5. List camera brand, model with entry for all to see.

6. THEME: "Wet, Wild or Stormy"

7. Max of 3 photographs per person.

8. Post processing is fine.

9. Winner will set up and judge next contest.

Have at it, folks

Ha. You guys are lucky I didn't post 80 options.

The bridge pic doesn't quite get to wild or stormy. The poorest composition is probably the rainy window pic, but that one's somewhat appealing.

I took these last weekend and am still pissed i didn't bring my dslr on that trip. My point & shoot sucks in low light.

I don't know a P&S which would be great in low light conditions...

I also took a couple of pics this weekend.

OK, that's just a railway bridge

While still a beginner, I would like to enter my photo of a swan. It was wet and definitely very wild!
The pic was taken with a Pentax X90 (f8; 1/250; ISO160; focal length 41,5mm = 235mm 35mm equiv). The picture has been cropped to size.

Keep 'em coming folks, all looking good so far

Re compacts good in low light... I find that you need to get one which has a larger sensor, and that excludes *all* pentax compacts. I have two which do reasonably well... a Canon G11 and recently a Ricoh GRDIII. Both have 1/1.7" sensors and the Canon has a decent ISO range. The Ricoh only goes to 1600. OTOH I try to shoot as low as I can and don't like shooting over 400 anyway.

Unfortunately, that's the case with almost all of the waterproof cameras. There's something to be said for composition, but when everything is blurry or grainy, better equipment helps. I really like your 2nd landscape GT. It's funny how diff shades of green are in diff countries. Really nice Swan, Anton.
