$800 for a camera with a CMOS sensor and a prime lens, and another $300 for a 28-80 lens? Sorry but I could get a LOT more for $1100. This seems like a nice niche item and something I might like to have, but I could make that money go a LOT further with a new lens and body in the DSLR realm. Nevermind that getting into this system might mean two or three years before you see more lenses and options for it.

p.s. Did anyone saying this is worth the money notice that it's only 12.4 megapixels? (Don't get me wrong, I still shoot with my K-x, but for the MONEY and what's out there today, is it worth it?)
Only 12.4 MP ? Is that a joke ? If your a MP nut then knock youself out with the Olympus FE-47 14 MP Digital Camera for $53.79 .
Amazon.com: Olympus FE-47 14 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and 2.7-inch LCD (Black): Electronics

The Pentax Q is better than the Nikon D700 because it only has 12.1MP vs 12.4 for the Q.

Judging by that ISO 6400 shot released it is pretty amazing. Well, at least the noise filter. The photo itself is obviously pretty awful, but the noise filter manages to hide it (no detail, but at least it won't look as bad as what Canon etc. are producing with such sensors). But hell, even some mobile phones have bigger sensors!

And I thought Sigma was too confident in pricing their new camera... There's at least half a dozen cameras that I'd rather buy than this, and all of them are cheaper. Especially the NEX series. Almost as small, but with vastly superior image quality. Even several compacts should be superior (Canon S95, Panasonic LX5, Nikon P7000, ...), and I expect the Nokia N8 to take better photos too. At $150-250 this might be considered. But above that I'd buy a NEX-3.

IMHO a waste of resources, no way this is going to sell well (if they had put in a 1/1.63" sensor or at least 1/1.83" like in that Nokia PHONE) then maybe, at a more agressive price point.

I'd have like to have seen an APS-C offering in this style. With the new Sony sensor technology (assuming that's what's in here), it's possible that the small sensor might equal the performance of the MFT machines... We'll see. Not sure how wide an FOV they'll be able to produce.

I'll withhold judgement until I see images. But just imagine if this had possessed the K-5 sensor...

1/2.33" sensor? I'll pass. I'm afraid the general public will pass as well, making the company's financial outlook even worse than today.

Seriously, I wonder where on earth this concept came from -- they're copying a form factor others have pioneered (so no points for originality, or chance of finding a new niche market), but with worse specs and no obvious improvements (bye-bye enthusiasts), and a higher price (bye-bye everybody else).

Ok, ok, I know where it came from: marketing... "hey... can't we kinda tart up one of our consumer models to look like an Olympus Pen and raise the price to match the retro vibe..?! We'll make a fortune!"

It's too expensive.
Other mirror less camera are cheaper and have bigger size censor.
That censor is too small...
I hate that...
Pentax have to fix it or don't let them sell it.
Is that the feature that mosaics/blacks out things you don't want people to see?

They're targeting people who want a small, light, interchangeable-lens camera. If the image quality is good, then they've probably hit their mark. I'm looking forward to some hands-on reviews and photo samples.

Any possibility it can use Auto 110 lenses? With or without an adapter?

I'm not purely a megapixel nut. I'm stating for the money, for new technology, for bang for my buck, this product really looks like it's lacking for what you get. Did you read anything else I said or just stop when you saw "12.4 megapixels"?? As I said, I shoot with a K-x and am 100% happy with 12.4.

I agree we need to wait before judging image quality but who on earth in Pentax's marketing department came up with the label "TOY" lens!?!?!? How on earth can they expect the camera to be taken seriously with a toy bit of glass on the front?
