Really nice shots, Catriona. I especially love the third. There's something with the hammock splitting the frame, plus the B&W. Whatever, I love it.

Sunset Cruise

A boat at Solomon's Island out for a cruise and a little fishing, taken from the apex of the bridge. Pentax Optio A40, Program mode @19.4mm, 1/160 f/4.8, ISO 200.

I presume the people on the boat are having fun

Very nice entries, again.

That hammock photo is certainly wonderful, Catriona.

Unixrevolution - if that was a recent pic, I'd say they're most likely plugging their nose because of all the recent sewage spills into the Chesapeake Bay I'm staying off it for another couple weeks.

I particularly liked Kyteflyer's Watcher's photo & Bart's first photo, although I also liked the 2nd one of the fisherman as well.

Thanks Bart & GT - The only thing that irks me about the hammock photo is that little bit of cord showing in the right hand corner of the pic. I couldn't crop it out. That was one of my friends when we were down in the Florida keys one January. there's something magical about leaving the snow behind & basking in the Florida sunshine.

Here's another good shot of her that trip(although, she may not agree) - if I'd realized I took it with my point & shoot and not my dslr, I'd possibly have used it (it's got maybe a bit too much clutter)

I have not even noticed the cord before you mentioned it, though I've been spending pretty much time watching it. You really shoud not worry

Clutter? Life, only life.

I'm using this line the next time people complain about how I keep house.

ha. unfortunately, I suffer from a plenitude of life that explodes all around me! Constantly! It's hard to manage the teaming wildlife about me.

But sometimes a background detracts from a photo, sometimes it adds... the water bottle & the cord irritate me in that hammock photo, but I'm too lazy to figure out how to photoshop them out. Instead, I will point out the imperfections to you guys

Anyway, when it's too clean and tidied, I find it weird and not natural. If I want to see an immaculate house, I just have to open an Ikea catalog
'cause there MUST be papers (and pencils) lying on a desk.

The "vanish point" feature should work great for your problem. I used it to remove a whole street light, once

My first entry with new Pentax Q. I finally own a Pentax compact camera. This was shot with the 8.5 normal lens. Before anyone blames the Q for poor quality, this is an extreme crop using less than 1/4 of the image size. Wish I had thought to take a photo this tight during the shoot..
thanks

Its really good to see what the Q can do, finally. I was one of the doubters but I am seeing more and more that its a very capable compact. Its not something I want, myself, but this is an example of its capacity for good shots. Not to detract from the photographer of course

Not sure whether the X100 shot is acceptable. It overlaps two categories... APS sensor, but compact digital rangefinder. I'll submit something else if not OK.
The x100 is a 35mm-or-smaller-format Non-SLR with non-interchangeable lenses. It qualifies. And for the record, it's not actually a rangefinder.
