You have picked a very interesting theme - at least nobody can complain that there is not enough scope for this competition!

I think the theme should be somewhat general due to the fact that we have an international group of photogs. The seasons, daylight, cultures and more seem to require it. I found it interesting that the last contest ended when we celebrate "Labor Day" here in the United States. But how many of you knew that? So if it had been a theme, there might have been fewer entries. Right now we are celebrating, taking time off, vacationing and having fun with parades, festivals, carnivals, fireworks, music, etc (hence the theme for september).

Hello, all!

I guess I have something

So, what do people do when they're off and relaxing? Some jump aboard a boat and photograph one of the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world

While some others walk along the beach or enjoy the heavy winds to kite-surf:

Yes, it's a kite-surfer in the background. Look for the dot underneath the kite.

Both with an Optio P80.

Great entries, everyone! And very versatile.

Relaxing and having fun means different things to different folks (of course).

For me, a nice walk and the opportunity to shoot some pictures, sits very high on my list of favourite activities.

A place I always enjoy, is the beach. Outside of the tourist season, that is. I prefer it quit.
Nevertheless, even on those times, I see some like minded folks enjoying a walk.
What you see on the pier are, of course, people fishing. Now, while for me that would be a nerve racking experience, they sure seem to enjoy it.

and last:

Had to make sure to add at least one B&W

Canon G11 - Late afternoon on the lake

Fuji F550EXR - watchers

Panasonic TZ7 - after lunch

Not sure whether the X100 shot is acceptable. It overlaps two categories... APS sensor, but compact digital rangefinder. I'll submit something else if not OK.

More great entries! You all are making my decision difficult. I'm enjoying the variety in this competition.

Kyteflyer - - I'm going to accept your entry. Rules are general, not set in stone.

Great entries everyone... Tell me how the kite boarding goes, Ivoire... I'm pretty good at getting thrashed & managing to ride a kite buggy upside down.
