I'm unlikely to be a huge stickler about point & shoot vs. not... There is already a dslr photo contest on here, so DSLRs are disqualified, even if you use them like a point & shoot. I just ducked into the pentax Q section and they don't seem to be running any photo contests over there... So the pentax Q users can post in here as point & shoots as far as I'm concerned until they want to have their own photo contests.

I think we've mostly been judging these point & shoot photocontests in terms of composition/intent as opposed to camera quality. My winning entry from last month won despite the fact that it was a very grainy image because it was taken by a point & shoot in low light. While I think the graininess worked on that photo, it still wasn't technically the best image submitted, and it probably would have been a much better shot if I'd taken it with a dslr. So while those people with some of these better cameras that are only borderline point & shoots have an admitted technical & quality advantage, they will still be judged based on composition & how it pertains to the theme.

NOw I'm excited to see what you guys come up with

OK, i'll jump in with 3 entries. First 2 are from a couple of months ago in Florida with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS6 taken at the 300mm focal length. 3rd (with multiple juxta-posers) is with the fuji finepix f10 (camera was converted to infrared)

Wow... I do really like those Panasonic zooms they manage to put into small cameras. I especially like the 4 deer all lined up.

The 4 doe saw me in the distance and actually started coming closer. Then one got spooked over something and they bounded off. The 300mm Leica zoom on the Panasonic is very nice. It's not very good in low light, but that's the K5's job

This is a beautiful work of nature juxtaposed against a not so beautiful work of man - in this case, San Francisco. Taken from the 14th floor of the Mark Hopkins, Nob Hill, October 3rd, sunrise.

Lumix LX-5 at 24mm, f/4.5 using Autostitch for two frame panorama.

woof!

I would judge we are on a Panasonic forum from the cameras being used so far

I always have trouble with these sorts of things. Abstract thinking is not my forte, however, here's my lot. All taken with a Ricoh GRDIII which is fast becoming my favourite camera of all.

1) Shadows and Light (with apologies to Laurentiu who submitted first)

2) Pepper and Salt

3) Clouds in the street
