@Christo.
I have driven the roads from Bloemfontein to PE and the Garden Route, but never really explored the countryside around Graaff-Reinet. Obviously a big mistake on my part. The scenery rivals anything in the Drakensberg or Western Cape mountains.

I just got my P&S and I don't have many photos, but here goes anyway. Random things I snapped with my Ricoh GRD IV, most likely I will change the last 2 photos as the competition goes on.

Oh! WOW! Did I just spill my drink?

@ Nuff

Three nice entries. Looks like you were having a great party in the first one, and I am amazed that the streets are so empty in the second one, while the blue sky in the third is incredible.

Although the road works between Bloemfontein and Middelburg are a bit of a hassle at the moment, it is a beautiful part of the world. Graaff-Reinet is about 850m above sea level, and just about 60 km north of us, it is about 1750m. You should visit us, it is a very popular tourist destination

Nuff, I like the grain in #1, I don't think he is very impressed with his friends laughing at him

Thanks guys and great entries from all so far. Like the 'rock climber' pic of altopiets ( hope you have a parachute) and Nuffs 'party' pic.

Heres #2, another with the XZ-1. Am giving some thought on #3 as i would like something unusual

Wow. Off to a flying start!

Great entries already!

Me, I'm still brooding.

OK, OK..... I decided to continue with portraits from the XZ-1 using the 12sec timer and fill flash (plus a bit unusual). and Bart, don't brood, get out and shoot. I've seen enuff of your BnW to know how competitive you can be.

Thanks for the positive comments, the grain in the 1st pic is what I like the GRD for and why I chose it. It might not have the latest and greatest sensor, but the noise looks like film grain at high iso. When I look at the high iso photos they really lends themselves to B&W photography and it's something I want to play around a little bit more with.

By the way, I've enhanced the grain and made it slightly more pronounced in Silver Efex Pro.

@Michael, #2 is really striking, but boy o boy, If I see you at night in the outfit in #3, it would really be an Ooohhh.... Sh***tt, moment.

@Kyteflyer, excellent shots, but #3 is Oh! Wow!

I'll try #2; we usually have summer temperature in the late 30, early 40C, with winter in the early teens, but 2 years ago we had this....(Taken with a Nokia N96)

Kyteflyer.... excellent capture on #3

Altopiet.... that's a great "Kilimanjaro" moment (even tho you are sooo many kilometers apart). Re #3, don't worry, no humans were harmed in the making of that pic
