Last Two Entries

This drive-by capture is the "Majesty building" in Central Florida. Many Floridians call it the I-4 eye sore. It's been over 12 years since anything has been done with it. The CEO told the news that it will be completed October 30th but that's is unlikely as there has not been workers on site for a long loonnnnng time.

This squirrel thought I had something for him. He let me get close but I had nothing for him but the quick snap of my panasonic DMC ZS6.

Nice work frission! Thats a great shot of the tower, especially with the reflections and the bird in the upper corner.

My last entry. Canon Powershot 70. Another sci-fi film subject. Tribute to Ed Wood!
thanks
barondla

If my mantis & bird could meet Unixrevolution's zombies it would make a great film.

Pentax Point & Shoot Competition #53 - "Oh! Wow!"

Pentax Point & Shoot Competition #53 - "Oh! Wow!"
Results:

There were 32 Images entered into the contest by 12 contestants and I want to thank you all for participating.
Particularly I want to welcome Nuff and Todd as new competitors to our P&S contests. I hope you will become regular participants.

This contest had a very wide theme which each of you tended to interpret differently - but no matter. All I was looking for was those images that made me think Oh! Wow! when I first saw them. To be honest I really thought there would be very few real contenders. After all, it is a contest for relatively inexpensive and fairly simple cameras - certainly cameras not noted for producing the kind of Oh! Wow! emotions with their images. The judging should have been simple...

The reality is that all the entries were very good. Finally they were narrowed down to 13 exceptional images of which 6 were absolutely outstanding. Picking the winners was a far from simple task.

First, the "special mentions", in no particular order :-
AltoPiet's view from the mountains

Barondla's walking bird

Frission's squirrel

GT's political posters

Immunogirl's hairy man

Neatknight's chess game

Nuff's street scene

Well done to you all. They are fine images.

Now for the winners....
In a tie for 5th place
Todd's night sky

and Unixrevolution's trees & sunset

I would be proud to hang these on my wall.

In 4th place
Kyteflyer's sunset view. I really liked the street lights in this image.

In 3rd place
Todd's lizard. This was just a really Oh! Wow! capture.

In 2nd place
Ivoire's portrait of a young girl. This is just an exceptional image.

And the winner
Bart's Paris, La Défense. The subject, composition and lighting just blew me away. Well done.

Sincere thanks to everyone who entered - your fine pictures gave me a tough time - and special congratulations to the winners. Very well done!

Thank you. Congratulations to the contenders, and of course to Bart for his night view of La Défense, with its arch.
For civil engineering amateurs, the Total tower on the left, not only belongs to the eponymous oil company, but also was until recently the highest skyscrapper in this block.
