Optio WG1 Tripod Mount Threads Stripped

Seems I managed to strip the threads in my camera's tripod mount. Pentax advises the repair is not simple and will be expensive.

Are there any alternative mounts available ? Any suggestions for an inexpensive fix ?

Thanks for the input.

This might work

One way to fix this might be a automotive product that uses epoxy to create new threads. I've used it on engines and it does work well.
