Mini vacation with WG-2

I got my self Pentax WG-2 and decided to leave K20D at home to get to know WG-2 better and also to travel lighter. We went to Rab on Croatian coast.

-1- At the time there was a three day festival called "Rabska fiera". The citiy was crowded.

-2- Rabska fiera is a sort of medieval festival with home made old fashioned food and drinks.

-3- The terrace of our residence. Don't let the picture fool you. Right under the terrace and next to the sea there is a regional road with lots of traffic.

-4- Unbelievably loud cicada.

-5- The best sun screen is a tree.

-6- No luck with fish baskets.

-7- Dirty water and bad visibility.

-8- We took a boat and went swimming in cleaner water.

-9- I wouldn't mind having a house like that.

-10- The water here was crystal clear.

-11- We took the boat back and left Rab the next day.

I must say I'm quite content with the WG-2. I was afraid of bad image quality but it's quite alright for web and it gets better in good conditions.

Hi!
Very nice trip you have done!
Yep, I'm afraid for the quality of this images too, but I think that this is one of the most suitable camera that I would buy.
Thank you to share with us!

The shots here seem much better than the shots on the "in-depth review" portion of this forum. Perhaps it is the way they are presented, which looks to be near 100%, but based on what I saw there, I had given up on this camera. Perhaps it is also the excellent composition. The night shot of the medieval festival and the one of the two women on the front of the boat are especially nicely done.

Love my wg-2

I just bought a WG 2 to take elk and bighorn sheep hunting here in Colorado. So far I love the camera. Your shots show some of the potential of this little gem. I have to say, having it on my hip is so much easier than carryng my K-10 everywhere. will try to add some of my photos.

I don't care what camera those were taken on; those are some great photos - composition, colours, noise, subjects (especially the cicada) all make up some excellent shots.

I finally got the chance to see these images on an unsecured network. Great stuff! Image quality is good... and it looks like everyone had a good time.

Have you tried your WG-2 for video? I've always wondered if it had the potential to be a bit of a GoPro killer.

I'm glad you liked the photos.

As for the GoPro killer I believe it has some advantages and some disadvantages. I've never tried the GoPro but from what I've heard from othe users I'd sum it up like this:

GoPro advantages:
wide angle
very rugged
very small

WG2 advantages:
more modes and settings
has a lcd screen
better image quality
better low light video

GoPro is is made to mount it on helmet and forget about it. I've seen people jumping in water from 10m with GoPro on helmet. WG2 manual on the other hand advises against jumping in water with camera in hand.

The GoPro is fixed focus. It's just so danged wide that everything is in focus. And while the camera itself is really small, it's a bit bulkier when it's in its waterproof housing. I may have to convince my wife I need one of each. Nice pics, btw. I had been wondering how the WG-2 performed.
