G.T, that is certainly close-up enough for me not to recognize it

Mike, that is a beautiful piece of engineering.

Ivoire, that brings a tear to my eye

That was the zs-7, I stood there forever trying to get a dragon fly to stay still long enough to make the point & shoot get a good pic (didn't have room to take my dslr with me that trip). I managed to get a good shot of a black one too, but I think the orange pic is better:

Another quickie from the Optio S

How to make an ordinary switch look good... A macro shot of a switch on one of my guitars.

Immunogirl.... I really like that beach shot.

Mike

Great set, Catriona. Especially the dragonfly. I do prefer the orange one.

Great looking guitar, Mike.

Ivoire, strangely we have the exact same term in our language.

Hey Good News... The old Optio S is alive again!

Many thanks to Anton for the tip!!! It took me several days of searching but I finally found the correct .bin file for the camera over in Paris somewhere and installed it.
Worked like a charm... Good to go!
So glad that it worked for you - and the Optio - and saved it from a tragic end.

The bugs were cooperative today.
Not only cooperative, but stunning too. Excellent shots

Oh my! This competition is sure hotting up towards the closing date.
I must say I really liked Immunogirl's first pic of the planks, shades and drink - just a great image.
Equally though, Mike's guitar switch is a knockout.

I was showing some of the entries to a friend and they were knocked out by the quality of the pictures you guys have taken with P&S Cameras.
Excellent entries from so many of you - wonderful stuff.

I liked the planks and sunnies too, but those dragonflies... I am totally in awe of anybody who can stalk them and get a good shot with a compact. I bow to their superior skills!!

I like the black dragonfly best, Catriona...

I loved the guitar shot as well.

Thanks guys - I'm not going to tell you how much time I spent stalking the dragonflies - the good thing is that the panny has like a 12x zoom. I can't remember if sticking it in sport mode or macro zoom mode worked better, but I was making use of the zoom, trying to take pics of a bunch of butterlies & dragon flies as they flitted from one flower to the next.

I think I took that plank shot shortly after deciding it would be a great idea to just lie down on that picnic table and take a nap for an hour or so.- the view was nice lying down.

My Entry

Some great shots so far!
Here's my entries, all done with a Pentax Optio I-10, macro mode, shutter speeds 1//00s-1/320s, f/7.8, ISO 80. I found that (with this camera, at least) if you turn the flash menu options to "On" in daylight- instead of "Auto On", it forces the camera to go to a higher f-stop and lowers the ISO. Very handy!
