Pentax Compact Camera Post Processing Contest #4

Pentax Compact Camera Post Processing Contest #4
The Rules

1. Have Fun!

2. Use any Post Processing Software and techniques.

3. Entries will close on October 31st, 2012. Midnight GMT. (appropriate, no )

4. Maximum image dimensions for entries are 1024x768 pixels

5. Max of 3 image entries per person. Entries may be withdrawn or changed

6. List software used, as well as your method, with your entry so we can all learn.

7. There are no limits or restrictions - make the subject image into whatever you want!
But try not to copy other entries....

8. Contest winner posts the next subject image, sets closing date and judges next competition

9. Have Fun

I mentioned a challenge.
If P&S cameras have one weak point, it's noise and not so good low iso performance.

So, I choose a night picture.

This is straight out of the camera (Panasonic FX500).

I think you will need the original to work on

And just to show it's not a totally mission impossible, I think I came up with a reasonable version.

But I'm certain you all can do a lot better and perhaps even keep the colours

and 7. There are no limits or restrictions - make the subject image into whatever you want!

Looking forward to your creations

This one is a real challenge Bart, but I have a few ideas that just might work, so I'm on it!

Well done, Mike.
That turned out nice and all the components can still be recognized.
I like it.

I also took the artistic route. Will probably do the same for remaining two. This is definitely a challenging picture.

This was a filter applied in PS. Don't remember which one, but if I find it later I'll edit this

Interesting approach, Sam.
Overall brighter but more grain/noise. Hence the b&w, I suppose?
Keeps more of a photo feel.

I looked up the filter I used. It was the reticulation filter under sketch in Photoshop. I like how it brought out some of the people in the background.

OK... these will be my final entry's.
My original posted image was good enough, but I decided to go back into the master and work on it a little more, just to improve a few things (details) and see if I couldn't produce something better. I used this improved master to create the watercolor image below. I am also posting a re-sized copy of the basic colorized master as my final entry.

This was a lot of fun!
Thanks Bart
Mike

Last one is of course closer to the photographic look and reveals the elements in the image.
Noise is well under control.
Well done, Mike.

Mike and Sam have shown that there is indeed a solution to this challenge.
Any other approaches?

Hi ronin67,

That is an impressive spider!

However, for this contest, you are supposed to work on the image provided in the first entry in this thread.
