I'll play. Done with photoshop, fractalius and a kaliedascope program. First step was to use afree kaliedascope plugin for cs5, then rund the image thru the fractalius plugin, convert to bnw. Next step was to add the figure by cutting and pasting with cs5.

Alright, things are starting to warm up around here! You guys had me worried there for a while... I was begining to think that I had let everyone down, choosing a dead topic of no interest to anyone.

Catriona, Iviore & Audiobomber have now added some great entries to this competition as well... Hopefully with more to follow.

Thanks folks! Keep'm coming...
Mike

Catriona... Even places like Photobucket have some cool effects available, so no excuses... get hot!

There are excuses. I totally hate judging.

However, I downloaded fotosketcher earlier to work on that watercolor i needed and just started playing with an old out of focus heron pic:

Oh yea... sure you do.
You say that you hate judging, but your last entry shows all of us that you are not making any meaningful efforts to avoid it however.

Great shot, right up there with the rest of the class.
Take some solace in the fact that you are helping to make my decision that much more difficult.

I see that fractal thing up at the top of the page and will admit that it's way better than mine and that I have absolutely no idea how to do that or anything on the previous page. And that maybe if i had an attention span, I'd figure it out. But I prefer to whine about it and be very impressed with everyone's skills instead!

It is the "result" of ones efforts that will be judged, not the effort itself.
Iviore's fractal is pretty cool though huh. I'm really digg'n Dan's memorial shot too.
...and that Great Blue Heron... Ohh, Ahhhh... all fine additions!

I produced a perfectly acceptable example of Artistic Expression from your Doorway image with (1) Click of the mouse.... no excuses, get back to work.

... and where's Sue? I don't see her entries here yet either.

C'mon you slackers... lets get busy.

The neon miners, ghost bunnies and watercolor heron are very cool.

I too have difficulty in judging competition entries. Often it is just how the image "grabs" me that determines the winning entry. Technical merit gets factored in, but seeing things in a new light has an major impact.
