Point & Shoot Competition #61 - Darkness

This months theme is Darkness.

QuoteQuote:
dark·ness/ˈdärknis/
Noun:
The partial or total absence of light: "the office was in darkness".
Night: "make camp before darkness".
Interpret it however you like and be creative. I'm looking forward to your entries.

The Rules

1. HAVE FUN!
2. Cameras:
No cameras with sensors larger than 1"
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use
No interchangeable lens cameras
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1 kg

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above)
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital rangefinder and viewfinder cameras
Interchangeable or Fixed-lens 110 film SLRs and Pentax Q
TLRs, 6x9, 6x7, 6x6 and 6x4.5 Medium Format "Folding", "Box", or "Holga-style" scale focus cameras (subject to 1 kg weight limitation)

3. Entries will close on Dec 31, 2012.

4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels

5. Max of 3 image entries per person, from archives or fresh. Entries may be withdrawn or changed

6. Listing camera brand & model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

7. Post processing is fine.

8. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date, and judge’s next competition

9. HAVE FUN!

Few of my pics to get the ball rolling:

Finally, a place to enter all those wonderful shots I have of the back of lens caps.

Jarek... Outstanding starter images! That first one especially.

Ivoire... Nice work! I think I prefer the Moon Glow image simply because it looks so natural, but the effect used in the other two is so alluring it really makes it hard to decide.

A very fitting theme for this month for us on the Northern hemisphere.

Nice entries, ivoire!
3rd one gets my vote.
Oh wait. No voting here.
Nevertheless.

Go ahead, I will try to evaluate the best lens cap!

Also I wish that an admin would change the competition #60 to #61! *FACEPALM*

Fastback, thanks a lot! I like the 1st one too, since I shot it hand held. I'm a big fan of twilight photos.

Ivoire, great entries, especially the last one of the moon.

Bart, I thought I would give the Northern Hemisphere an unfair adventage, since all of us in Southern Hemisphere are enjoying nice and warm Summer. Although I will be heading out to snow in few weeks

The deadline needs to be moved from Nov. to Dec. Super contest theme this time. Strong images have already been entered.
thanks

Hello hello everybody!

Although this month's subject is darkness, I saw a light shining, so I decided to peek in.
LOL.

Here's a night shot from tonight, while I was took into a little traffic jam on my way back to home.

As usual, camera is the Optio P80 ISO 800.
I hope I'll have something any better than this, though.

Jarek, nice examples. Especially like the second

ivoire and GT, great start as always. Now to hunt for old ones. I have nothing new and am unlikely to be out at night for a long time.

Ivoire and G.T. thanks for the great entries. Hopefully there will be more coming soon.

Kyteflyer, I'm glad you like the 2nd pic. I do enjoy taking photos once it gets dark, but I do not get a lot of chances to do so.

An all too familiar sight, G.T.
Brings up the mood of a dark winter evening perfectly.

I don't shoot all that much in dark surroundings, so I went back to an evening walk I did earlier this year in La Défence in Paris.
I think / hope I didn't post these before. I any case, one of them is freshly processed so, at least it is a new interpretation.

All with Panasonic FX500, handheld, processed in LR3, second one in Silver Efex Pro 2 and last one in Coler Efex Pro 4
